Huntington County, Indiana
Settle in beneath the canopy of ancient apple trees. No hookups, no crowds—just the kind of stillness that reminds you what camping was always meant to be.
Our Story
Apple Orchard Primitive Campground sits on a stretch of Huntington County land that has been growing apples long before any of us were around to remember. The trees here are old—some of them over a century—and they've watched generations of families come through these gates looking for the same thing: a little peace.
We call it primitive for a reason. There are no electrical hookups, no running water at your site, no Wi-Fi to check. What we offer is something rarer these days: honest, unadorned access to the kind of landscape that makes you want to sit still and listen. A fire ring, a patch of ground, and the orchard doing what it has always done.
Whether you arrive in a tent, an old RV, or just a sleeping bag and a sense of curiosity, this is a place that meets you exactly where you are. No performance required.
The Experience
Every detail here is intentional. We've kept things simple so nature can do the rest.
Each campsite is nestled beneath the branches of mature apple trees, offering natural shade and a canopy that turns golden every autumn.
No hookups, no pavement, no noise. Just your gear, a fire ring, and the kind of darkness that makes the Milky Way look close enough to touch.
Walk the perimeter of the property and you'll find quiet wooded paths, wild berry bushes, and stretches of land that belong only to the deer.
In fall, the orchard bears fruit, and guests are welcome to pick their own apples right from the trees that have sheltered this campground for decades.
Every campsite comes with a stone fire ring. Bring your own wood or gather fallen branches—the evening belongs to you and your flames.
Spring blossoms, summer green, autumn gold, winter silence—each season reveals a different face of the orchard, and each is worth the trip.
The Grounds
From the first crocus in April to the last bare branch in March, this land tells a story if you slow down enough to read it.
